With a large typhoon headed towards Korea, the 2023 World Scout Jamboree began emergency evacuations, with many of the 36,000 scouts relocating to Seoul. In part of a citywide effort, Coex opened its doors to the youths of the World Scout Jamboree with a special Jamboree Lounge to help provide refuge from the ongoing typhoon.
As a premiere venue and organizer for events in Korea, Coex was able to utilize its expertise and vast arsenal of event display solutions to swiftly convert its halls to a welcoming space for the young scouts. Located in Conference Room E on the 3rd floor, the Jamboree Lounge provided the scouts with complimentary refreshments, tour information, charging stations, and free internet.
Coex’s AV-Drop system was used to quickly set up large backdrops and special photo zones in just a matter of hours. With its quick and easy set-up, along with its cost-effectiveness, use of the AV-Drop system has become more and more frequent at events at Coex. The digital screens throughout the convention center and Starfield Mall were also used to welcome and guide the scouts through the bustling areas of Coex.
A comprehensive virtual map was also created to act as the trusted guide for the scouts, providing step-by-step directions to Conference Room E on the 3rd floor. Seamlessly integrated into the dedicated Jamboree Lounge website, this map ensured that the scouts and their leaders effortlessly found their way throughout Coex, leaving more time for making unforgettable memories.
Throughout the day, multiple scout country contingents streamed in and out of the lounge, using it for rest, meeting up, tourism information, and even to participate in a fun hashtag event prepared by Coex. Many used the lounge as a jump-off point for their exploration of Coex and its many facilities. With events being held year-round at Coex, the scouts visiting Coex had access to a plethora of things to do and experience, such as the Hanbok Expo, K-pop dance classes, the Disney Fantasy Studio, Starfield Library, and more.
