The 26th Seoul International Sourcing Fair (SIPREMIUM 2016) held earlier this month was one of the most successful on record for Coex.
This year saw a 111% increase in overseas participants, with companies from 19 countries joining the show. The ASEAN-Korea Centre alone brought ten companies from five ASEAN member states — Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam — and introduced a wide range of products including living and home interiors, fashion and accessories and stationary and office supplies.
“Although many ASEAN goods are deemed competitive in the global market, there have been obstacles for ASEAN companies to expand into Korea,” said ASEAN-Korea Centre Secretary General Kim Young-sun. “I hope more ASEAN companies can introduce their unique and high-quality products to Korea and further expand their businesses in Korean market through this exhibition.”
The organization also held a trade seminar on consumer goods to support the ASEAN exhibitors.
SIPREMIUM 2016 featured a strong business matching program, with exhibitors matched in 1:1 meetings with Korean and international buyers. The meetings resulted in contract discussions valued at approximately 58.2 billion won.
