Leading medical experts from around Asia Pacific specializing in tuberculosis and respiratory diseases gathered in Coex from November 17-20 for the 26th Congress of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR 2022). The event saw as many as 2,000 domestic and foreign experts from 45 countries descend on the venue in the city’s Gangnam district.
Hosted by the Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (KATRD), this year’s APSR 2022 was held under the theme of ‘Above and Beyond”, and featured a range of academic programs and learning opportunities. It also drew prominent scholars and thought leaders in the field to come and discuss key issues facing this vital part of the medical community.
At the congress symposiums and lectures, participants engaged with speakers through one-on-one ‘Meet the Professor’ formats as well as through a Pro/Con app for them to share opinions on topics such as asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and lung cancer.
Coex saw its halls being used to the fullest. A total of 53 pharmaceutical companies related to tuberculosis and respiratory tract participated as sponsors and exhibitors. In addition, in the Pre-Congress Workshop, unlike other academic programs of this kind, hands-on sessions were included so that students could vividly experience bronchoscopy and other practices.
A marketing manager from a sponsoring domestic pharmaceutical company said, “Now that we have gotten through the COVID pandemic and entered endemic, face-to-face academic conferences like this are seeing more participation, and this particular venue was ideal for promoting products or presenting treatment case studies.”
