Coex hosts major summer conferences: Dermatology, Prosecutors Summit, and more
The World Dermatology Congress, one of the globe's 10 largest association meetings, opened on Tuesday, May 24th at Coex Halls A through D for a week of skin-related medical conferences, seminars, and exhibition deals. Over 11,000 doctors and medical vendors registered for the congress, and 8,655 registrants, or 76%, came from overseas. The bid for the Dermatology Congress took years of coordinated planning from the national government, City of Seoul, Coex Convention Center, and more. The event is already seen as a high mark in Seoul's already-impressive resume of international congresses.
On June 30th, the World Summit of Prosecutors General opened at Coex for a two-day high-level negotiation under the theme of "New Initiatives of the Prosecution Service". Coex acted as both venue and organizer for the summit, which brought together 400 participants from 120 countries, including heads of the national prosecuting bodies of each country as well as prominent international organizations, such as the United Nations and the International Criminal Court.
Coex's organizing team worked for 5 months to directly plan and construct the summit hall within Coex Convention Center's own Hall D2. The 120 head delegates needed a mega-sized boardroom style summit, which Coex created using a complex turn-taking and Spot Relaying system as well as an inside row of PDP and LED TV screens. The success of the complex layout was a huge win for both the conference and the center.
On August 4th-7th, Coex hosted the International Dragon Award, China's largest insurance-industry incentive event. The titular award is presented to the best insurance firm of the year and was one of the biggest incentive events that Coex has hosted to date.
IDA was the first event in Korea to have the venue rental fee covered 100% by local convention bureaus. It was also the first time the IDA had been held outside of a Chinese-speaking country. Nearly 5,000 insurance company representatives attended the event, which included a luxurious award stage and several performance shows.
