SEOUL, KOREA – On March 31, Coex, Korea’s leading exhibition organizer and venue, hosted the UFI Asia-Pacific Week – South Korea at its new studio159.
Hosted by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), the UFI Asia-Pacific Conference has become a highly rated and relevant gathering for professionals in the exhibition industry to come together to learn and network. However, due to ongoing COVID-related travel restrictions in Asia, a new approach was adopted for 2022 to give UFI members in Asia an opportunity to meet face to face in their respective regions. Having taken place from March 28, 2022 to April 1, 2022, the UFI Asia-Pacific Week operated as a series of member-led, local activities across Asia.
UFI Asia-Pacific Week – South Korea was led by South Korea’s UFI Ambassador Steven Kim, Executive Director, Head of Venue & Global Business Division, COEX (Seoul), who is a MICE industry professional with a successful track record of launching and growing trade shows and exhibitions in China, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. For the event, sponsored by Seoul Tourism Organization, UFI members in Korea came together at Coex’s new studio159 to meet face to face and join the “Meet the Future of Korea’s Exhibition Industry” video campaign to show the world how Korea is actively rebuilding the MICE industry.
Coex CEO and President Dong-Ki Lee, who also serves as the Chairman of the Association of Korean Exhibition Industries (AKEI), kicked off the video campaign with a speech stating, “We have a bright future ahead as Korea’s exhibition industry reconnects and rebuilds together… Korea is a country filled with excitement and we will continue to make Korea a world-class business events destination.” A total of 9 UFI members and 10 representatives also participated in the video campaign.
Members represented at this year’s event included, Coex, EXPOnU, Reed Exhibitions (Reed K.fairs), Design House, Bexco, Seoul Tourism Organization, EXCO, Association of Korean Exhibition Industry(AKEI), KINTEX, Changwon Exhibition Convention Center, Korea Industrial Marketing Institute, and Korea Environmental Preservation Association (KEPA).
