Exhibition Spotlight & Review: Seoul Photo & Imaging 2011
On April 21st, Seoul Photo & Imaging – known internationally as P&I – opened at Coex for its 20th year, in a 3-day celebration of photography, photo equipment, film, and imaging.
This year, P&I distinguished itself by adding a wealth of co-located supplementary events. These educational and artistic opportunities added to the P&I’s value by making it attractive to all guests interested in photography. Show organizers created a high-level photography seminar, several photography exhibitions, and a consultation lounge for trade show buyers.
P&I is a wholly Coex owned and organized exhibition. It is one of the oldest and most successful trade shows in the region, and was the first exhibition in Korea to receive UFI certification. With 120 exhibitors and 530 booths, it remains one of the largest trade shows in Asia dedicated to photography.
In addition to the main equipment-focused P&I exhibition, the three other co-located events for P&I 2011 were:
– Seoul Photo, originally one of Asia’s first art exhibitions dedicated entirely to photography. In 2011, Seoul Photo featured nearly 2000 works of art by photographers from around the world. A special section was dedicated to this year’s honored guest countries, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
– The Digital Imaging Seminar, which featured star speakers from both Korea and the United States. The seminar focused on image manipulation and digital applications for photography.
– The SLRCLUB Exhibition, a smaller club-focused photography seminar. The SLRCLUB was a major sponsor of P&I 2011, and their exhibition featured winning photographs selected from member submissions.
