Coex announced that the SAT, a standardized college admissions test used widely in the United States, was safely held at Coex while enforcing strict COVID-19 preventive measures on August 28, 2021. Coex is the first exhibition and convention center to be designated an SAT test center in Korea, where the exam is typically held at local schools or private academies.
About 800 examinees took the SAT in Conference Room E and ten of Coex’s medium and large conference rooms, rigorously observing COVID-19 safety measures such as maintaining a social distance of two meters, wearing masks at all times, and conducting body temperature checks.
The College Board, the American nonprofit that develops and administers the SAT, selected Coex to be a testing site in Korea in response to social distancing policies that complicate test administration in local schools and academies.
Although international conferences are largely on hold due to COVID-19, Coex remains busy as a venue for large-scale national qualification tests and job interviews. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 200 tests and interviews have been held in Coex conference rooms and exhibition halls, including the International Trade Professional Exam and the Insurance Planner Exam.

Meanwhile, Coex continues to provide hybrid and online event services for academic conferences, corporate meetings, and other events that have been difficult to hold due to the current Level 4 social distancing rules of Korea’s social distancing scheme. Coex is also scheduled to open Korea’s first broadcast studio capable of serving professional hybrid events in November 2021.
